How Local Traffic Shaping Replaces Gaming VPNs

OptiPath uses a split-tunnel VPN architecture to separate game traffic from background noise — all on your device, with zero external servers.

Manage Apps & Private DNS

Select targeted games for direct VIP bypass using Android's native addDisallowedApplication(), and toggle system-level encrypted private DNS for lowest server resolution ping.

How Packets Flow

BYPASSES tun0

Game traffic → Physical Wi-Fi/5G Radio → Server

Background → tun0 Virtual Interface → Token Bucket QoS → Delayed

Token Bucket QoS

A custom Global Token Bucket algorithm forces all non-gaming background traffic (updates, cloud backups, syncs) into the local tun0 interface. These packets are intentionally delayed, keeping the hardware queue empty for your game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about how OptiPath works and why it's different from traditional VPNs.

No. Traditional VPNs route your data to a server in another country. OptiPath creates a local VPN interface on your device solely to manage traffic speeds. Your data never leaves your device to go to our servers.
No. OptiPath uses Android's official VpnService API to intercept and shape traffic, which works on standard, unrooted devices.
Ping spikes often happen when background apps (like cloud backups or app updates) suddenly use your bandwidth. OptiPath catches background traffic and slows it down, reserving your device's full network capacity for your game.
Currently, the custom packet parsing engine is optimized for IPv4 traffic to ensure maximum stability and lowest overhead. IPv6 support is planned for a future update.
No. Because OptiPath does not route your traffic to external servers, your IP address and geographical location remain exactly the same.
